ENHANCED SINGLE VEHICLE APPROVAL TEST
The vehicle Inspectorate have now announced that
The Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval Test will now
come into effect the " 1st November 2001 " , and
not the 1st August which was originally planned.
This will allow both the Vehicle Inspectorate and Importers,
adequate time to prepare for the changes in this legislation.
Therefore, any vehicle applications made for the ESVA Test
between the 1st August and the 30th October can now
be processed under the existing SVA criteria, providing that
a valid Japanese De - Registration Document,
accompanies the application.
This Applies to ALL Vehicles.
However, if an application is made without
the Japanese De-Registration documents,
then the vehicle will require
the Enhanced Single vehicle Approval Test.
For Applications made on or after the 1st November,
the appropriate Model Report will be required together with
the Japanese De-Registration document,
for the following categories :-
Emmissions - For all Japanese Vehicle having a first registration date in
Japan from the 1st January 1997 onwards.
Noise - As per Emmissions.
Protective Steering - All Japanese 4 x 4 vehicles with a separate chassis,
regardless of age, will require a Comparison report against
a European Approved equivalent model.
A Comparison report will also be required for those Forward Control vehicles,
having a first registration date, in Japan, from the 1st January 1997 onwards.
The Protective Steering model report requirements
for those vehicles which have Forward Control vehicles,
such as Estima, Emina, Lucida & Town Ace & similaly type of vehicles,
have now changed in that they will NOT be required for pre October 1997
Japanese vehicles, with De - Registration documents.
This will allow many models in this category of vehicle,
to continue to be imported under the ESVA.
Any vehicle, which has a first registration date in Japan from
the 1st October 1998, which has been submitted for the ESVA Test,
will still require an Engine immobiliser to be fitted.
