ENHANCED SINGLE VEHICLE APPROVAL TEST
Many Importers and Japanese Agents have contacted both

concerning advice about the
Enhanced Single Vehicle Approval Test.
Therefore we hope the information contained below
will help keep you updated with developments.

The Enhanced SVA Test comes into from the 1st August 2001.
ESVA will apply only to those vehicles that were first
Registered after the 1st January 1997.
Vehicles which are Registered prior to 1st January 1997 and that
are under 10 Years of age will require the Single Vehicle Approval
Test & Ministry of Transport Test[MOT]only, as currently in force.
Any SVA application received by the Vehicle Inspectorate
by 31st July 2001, can be tested under the existing SVA criteria,
even if the vehicle is not actually tested until after
the 1st August 2001.
The new ESVA Test will require vehicles to have
the relevant Model Report undertaken on each specific model type,
which verifies that the vehicle is comparable in every sense to
the European Compliant version.
Vehicles with a "Ladder" type chassis ( where the Chassis & Body
of the vehicle are separated ) and "Forward Control" vehicle's,
will require a Comparison Test, whereby the vehicle is compared to
that of a European equivalent model.
Autotrade Ltd are in the process of testing vehicles
in readiness for the ESVA Test and the Comparison Test.
